Calming winds soothed the wide area inside the Everfree Forest. It continued on as a skinny stallion is sitting against a tree behind him. Underweight with his ribs against his skin partially. It seems he’s poor or homeless based upon his appearance. He didn’t do nothing but stay seated to relax his mind. Push away anything to slow things down for a change. A chance to clear up his thoughts to think clearly.

Though it was hard for creatures with hooves to creep, changelings were usually light enough to get by. Two of them had positioned themselves behind the tree he was leaning against as quietly as they could. While a third took the direct route.

"Sstrange place for a pony to sstay." He said, trotting right in front of him to grin triumphantly.

Uncertainty gets the best of him. He should’ve known that instead of dwelling in the possible scare of the queen looking down at him. There are all sorts, including being attacked and locked up in a cage.

"Confusing? What do you mean?" There was a worried tone in his voice.

"You don’t exactly think like other poniess do. It’ss interessting." She tried to give him a comforting look.

"It’s jusst different, that’ss all."

He nodded to acknowledge that.

"I’m sorry, i um-" He tilts down with a sigh. "Sometimes over-think some things. I makes me nervous or scared when i feel Chrysalis will attack me. I hope you can understand that. It’s difficult."

"Coming here to uss was not a rissk, but telling the Queen she lookss pretty iss? You are a confusing pony, Quick Sshift."

The changeling chuckled at him.

He shakes his head. “I was only wondering. Being a queen is hard-work. That can take away your energy sometimes. I-” He thinks for a second there. “I don’t get the crush thing. I admit she’s attractive, but we just met.”

Mercy smiled as though she had won a point. “Sso you admit you find her attractive? I’m ssure she’d like to hear that.”

"No worries there. I think that’s all. I wonder how Queen Chrysalis is doing? Is work going along well?"

The stallion had to ask in case if there’s any sort of stress for her. It popped up inside his mind to question that afterwards. He’ll say there’s hard-work to assume she’s feeling like that. It couldn’t be true unless Mercy knows.

"The Queen? Sshe is doing fine. Sshe is always busy, though… finding directing uss and helping with the hatchlingss. Ssometimes she doesn’t leave the hive for weekss." Mercy said casually.

"You want to feed uss, and you assk about the Queen… you don’t have a crussh on her, do you, pony?" That she asked with a bit of a smile. She knew it probably wasn’t the case, but she wasn’t above joking with him.

"That would make me better. Thank you." Quick sighs. "I got worried there for a second."

"Iss there anything else you need now? The bookss will be some time. I know you jusst ate, but it’ss sometimes hard to tell with poniess." She frowned a bit, but then said. "No offensse or anything…"

He’s disappointed if they’re planning on stealing any books. However, he remembered they have the ability of turning themselves into ponies. That’s a huge relief to calm his concern.

"All of you can turn into ponies, right? I almost forgot about that. I don’t know if you should visit or not. It feels kinda wrong."

Mercy stuck her tongue out at the stallion. “We’ll return them when we’re done if it makess you feel better. Besidess, some of those librarianss can be viciouss.”

It was said as a joke, but in a way, it wasn’t false. The librarian in Ponyville in particular nearly cooked some of them for missing books. That had been quite a headache.

"It's just a headache, I'll be fine." -Galatea

“A-Are you sure?” He rest a hoof on her shoulder from behind, knowing he’s there for her if it’s serious. “I think it’s best for you to stop and rest for a while. Today’s weather is terrible I know, but-“ Quick nodded. “Please…”

He strokes her back with one of his hooves, trying to soothe away the pain away hopefully in a few minutes. Quick also nuzzles against the side of her head to have full comfort for the poor filly.

"Really? Oh dear." He sighs. "Is there something wrong with her? I’m making sure Galatea. Having nightmares all the time is quite worrisome for a child like her." He nuzzles the top of her head. "Shhh, it’s okay. I’m here." He said calmly by the tone of his voice.

Ariel let out another soft whimper, though her trembling seemed to lessen as he held her and nuzzled her.

Galatea paused at Quick’s question, quiet for about a minute before she sighed heavily. “I… I can’t say I’m sure. But, um… It probably has to do with whatever happened before I found her. You see, as much as I wish she was mine, I… she’s not my biological daughter. I just found her on the street one day.”

The mare could recall that day as if it were yesterday. But this was no time to reminisce. “Whatever happened to her before then, I couldn’t tell you. But… Given the way I found it, it must have been nothing good.”

He listened very carefully to keep that in mind. She’s an orphan? That increase more of his concern. He’s not certain, but feels it was difficult for the poor filly back then. He wished to know, but now is not the time to ask.

"I don’t want to think what caused her to dream about nightmares constantly. From what you said, it’s questionable and worrisome without knowing what happened to her." He nuzzles Ariel once again. "It’s okay." He said calmly and quietly.

In an immediate concern, the skinny stallion already took notice of the filly. What in the world happened to her? The poor thing. He then approaches Galatea with a worried expression on his face. "Hey, are you alright?" He said calmly before sitting down in front of her.

The small red filly whimpered, shivering as she looked up at the stallion with large, teary golden eyes. She didn’t remember how she’d ended up here, but she had only gotten herself all the more hopelessly lost the more she wandered the lonely streets. None of the passersby had even thought to spare her a second glance, even though she was clearly far too young to be without her parents.

"I-I’m lost…" she answered softly, the tears in her eyes threatening to spill over.

"Shhh, shhh, shhh." He sighs sadly with a clear guess with no solution of keeping her calm. It’s understandable since it’s her parents. She missed them and it’s depressing. The poor filly. A nuzzle is there against her head.

"I agree. Ariel, please come with us. We’re not leaving you alone in this house."

The little red filly settled down somewhat, though she still looked at him with a pout on her face. She did accept his attention, which was helped keep her from throwing a fit right then and there, but she was still an upset and grumpy little filly. She wanted to go home, but this stallion wasn’t taking her there, obviously.

…Although, that was part of the problem as well. She couldn’t go home, at least not to the home she knew at this age. That home was in the future from which she came; thus, that home just didn’t exist yet. Her parents technically hadn’t even been born yet. Of course, time travel (accidental or no) always did tend to complicate things like that.

Ariel didn’t hesitate to go with Quick and Nano as they would set out for the library. Mostly because she agreed with him; she didn’t want to be left all alone in this house!

Quick had to calm his concern to think this through for once. Focus purely of bringing Galatea back of an adult originally. It’ll take some time, but worth the effort.

"Is there anything you need before we head off?" He asked Nano. "Making sure in case. I’m terribly sorry."

"Bookss are easy to come by, especially if a ssmall town carriess it." She said, trying to hide disappointment at being turned down for cuddles again. It was more or less expected from this pony, really, but she couldn’t help but hope.

"Ssome places don’t even ask for a card, we can just wander in and check out bookss right off of the sshelf."

"When are we leaving? There’s always now if you prefer." He says to Nano.

Galatea didn’t answer, instead looking around groggily. In her young, sleep-addled mind, she briefly wondered if everything that happened before she fell asleep had been just a dream. Of course, none of it was. She still wasn’t at home safe and sound with her parents. She whined, starting to squirm in Quick’s embrace. “Wanna go home…” she muttered.

Nano eyed Galatea worriedly before looking to Quick. “I… believe it would be best if we go now. The sooner this issue is resolved, the better.”
